Four years after Technoblade's death, the life of the Minecraft creator is set to become a feature-length documentary. The project, made with his family's blessing, is produced by Candle True Stories and financed by Riot Games and Hypixel Studios, both of which will donate all of their profits to charity.
"Technoblade Never Dies", the Californian YouTuber's signature catchphrase, is now the name of a documentary about his journey and the community he left behind. The film has only just entered production and does not yet have a release date.
Riot and Hypixel behind the funding, profits going to charity
The financing comes from Riot Games and Hypixel Studios, the independent studio behind Hypixel, the world's largest Minecraft server and Technoblade's historic stomping ground. Both companies have pledged to donate their profits to charitable organizations.
Production is handled by Candle True Stories, the documentary arm of Candle Media, the group founded by former Disney executives Kevin Mayer and Tom Staggs.
From anonymous teenager to crowned warrior
The film promises to tell the story of the young man behind the crowned-pig avatar. With access to his family and close friends, hundreds of hours of original content and testimonies from fans around the world, the documentary will trace how a shy, anonymous teenager from California became one of Minecraft's most iconic figures.
Diagnosed with cancer in 2021, he kept speaking to his community throughout his treatment, with the humor that defined him. He passed away in June 2022 at the age of 23. It was his father who read his final message — "so long nerds" — and revealed his first name, Alex, for the very first time.
A community that lives on
Today, Technoblade's YouTube channel is closing in on 23 million subscribers, and his influence reaches beyond the game itself: "A Minecraft Movie", released in 2025, paid tribute to him through his famous crowned pig.
