Riot Phroxzon previewed Patch 26.20 at the end of September, with a fuller thread a day later, and it went live on Wednesday, October 7. It's the patch Worlds 2026 will be played on: 19 teams start October 15 in Los Angeles, and the Final is at the Barclays Center on November 14. Riot says it's "pretty happy with the meta from playoffs" and doesn't want to hurt solo queue any further, so this is a precision pass: small cuts to the champions in every serious draft, small buffs to fringe picks, and one item, Rocketbelt, taking the real hit.
Top lane: Ambessa and K'Sante lose their safety net, Swain gets sturdier
Ambessa loses some passive damage because she's been too reliable in the late game, above all in coordinated play. K'Sante gets a higher mana cost and weaker damage reduction on his W, aimed at the blind-pick safety that made him comfortable in best-of-fives. Both stay draftable, but neither is an automatic first pick anymore.
Swain gets a moderate mid lane buff: more damage and a shorter cooldown on his W, +3 magic resist, -2 armor. It's the one fans will watch, since Zeus's Swain carried Hanwha Life through the MSI final alongside his Dr. Mundo. The W buff is a pure gain for him, and the armor cut is the only cost, mostly against physical-damage matchups.
Vayne is the design story. Riot nerfed her recently for her top lane strength in pro play and high-level solo queue, and Phroxzon says they're being "very careful" about bringing ranged tops back. Experimental Hexplate is cut on ranged champions, while her base regen and Tumble mana cost get buffs for bot lane.
