Gen.G missed out on MSI this year — but at the EWC, they're rolling. A 2-0 win over JDG kept the LCK giants unbeaten in Paris, and there's a title on their minds. RFT.GG caught up with Gen.G top laner Kim "Kiin" Gi-in after the win to talk about the hunger to make up for MSI, the aggressive meta, and what comes next for them.

You didn't qualify for MSI. How do you approach this competition with the team — is there more hunger to win it all, would you say?

We failed to qualify for MSI this time, so our fans, the team, and everyone within the organization were all extremely disappointed. But now we've been given this opportunity at EWC, and

I think we're all determined to win it. We'll give it our best.

You're considered one of the most complete and experienced players on the scene. Would you say people see you at your true value?

I've been playing for a long time now, and

A lot of people describe me as a very versatile player

Which I'm really grateful for. It feels like people recognize my value to a certain extent, which makes me happy. At the same time, they also seem to appreciate many of my other qualities. Overall, I'm very happy that people recognize what I bring as a player.

The current meta pushes toward aggressive plays and early skirmishes, and your playstyle is known for being more oriented toward heavy map control. Is that the biggest challenge for the team coming into this EWC?
