G2 looked like a different team against Fnatic. Game one was surgical — then the next two games fell apart fast. Coming off First Stand and a week's break, Rasmus "Caps" Winther sat down with RFT.GG to talk about what went wrong, why BLG was harder to handle than LCK teams, whether this roster is his best shot at a Worlds title since 2019, and what he had to say to Vladi right after the loss.
Game one looked absolutely surgical. Then the next two games it was like watching a completely different team. How do you switch so fast from one extreme to the other?
Coming back here after a week, our early games have been a bit hit and miss. Today we had a solo kill in the first game, but the next two went quite wrong quite fast, and it was definitely difficult to find the comeback angles. We just need to correct some things and catch up on all the new picks that are coming up.
Is it also a question of finding a new identity? I feel like whenever BB is on the weak side top lane it looks much better for you. Today he was on picks that want lane priority and gold, and it looked harder.
We were definitely testing some new things coming back. As I mentioned, there are many lessons we took away from First Stand and we are doing our best to apply them. That, coupled with the fact that we are a little bit rusty after taking a week off after First Stand, has definitely not been for the best results so far. But we believe in the long term. We just need to clean up our early game a little bit, figure out which champions we're comfortable with and which ones we're not, and what really works for us.
