Movistar KOI announced on Tuesday that Joseph Joon "Jojopyun" Pyun has extended his contract for one more year. The Canadian midlaner will stay in the LEC for the 2027 season, his fourth with the Spanish organization.
A season saved in the lower bracket
The extension comes at the end of a turbulent 2026 for MKOI. The team missed MSI and finished sixth in the Summer regular season, which also ruled them out of their own Madrid roadshow. Playoffs told a different story: from the lower bracket, Movistar KOI eliminated Team Vitality, Natus Vincere and then Karmine Corp to reach the Summer Grand Final, where they fell to G2 Esports. The run was enough to secure a spot at Worlds 2026, which runs from October 15 to November 14.
What's next for the roster
Jojopyun joins Elyoya (contracted through 2028) and Alvaro (through 2027) as the confirmed core for 2027, with Melzhet recently confirmed as head coach by Ibai. Myrwn and Supa are the two remaining question marks, as both reach the end of their deals after Worlds. Melzhet himself has admitted keeping the full lineup together will be difficult, as several players are expected to draw interest from other teams.
