The Liga Española de League of Legends (LES) updated its ruleset on April 20 to protect clubs losing a player to a higher-tier competition mid-season. The new provision, listed under Article 2.6.5.5, allows affected teams to sign a replacement with immediate effect, even when the transfer window is closed, and without any sporting penalty.

The update follows the promotion of Kacper "Daglas" Dagiel from Heretics Academy to Team Heretics' starting roster in the LEC, effective from week 4 of the Spring Split. The move was confirmed during matchday 2 of the LES season, with the league's transfer window shut since March 18, 2026. Without the exception, the academy side would have been left a player short with no way to replace him.

LES frames the update as consistent with its role of developing talent for higher-tier leagues:

One of the objectives of these competitions, LES among them, is the development of talent and its promotion to higher-tier competitions, such as the LEC or the LCS. In this sense, the promotion of a LES competitor to a higher-ranked league is regarded as the fulfillment of one of the competition's purposes.
