T1 have beaten the MSI champions. A 2-0 over Hanwha Life Esports at the Esports World Cup marks a statement result for a team still rebuilding confidence after a disappointing MSI exit. Kim "Peyz" Su-hwan — in his first year with the organisation — spoke with RFT.GG about the reflection that followed, adapting to his new teammates, and what winning this tournament would mean heading into the final stretch of the year.
We kept reflecting on the things we lacked at MSI, both individually and as a team, and tried to improve them. Our performance still wasn't completely stable coming into this event, but beating Hanwha Life 2-0 today gave us more confidence in ourselves. I think it will also give us a lot of confidence for the remaining matches.
Because the tournament result was so disappointing, I wouldn't say I felt proud.
I also don't think my performance at MSI was the best I could have shown, so I spent a lot of time reflecting on what I needed to do to play better.
The team's facilities and the people around the players are very good, so I didn't have any major difficulties adapting outside of the game.
In terms of gameplay, though, I needed time to understand what kind of players my teammates are, how they play and what styles they prefer.
I think that is why we struggled a little at the beginning. As I learned more about them and adapted, I became able to play with more confidence, like I do now.

The LCK regular season begins immediately after EWC. If we return after winning EWC, I think it would give us a lot of confidence for the regular season and also strengthen the trust between the players. That's why I really want to win EWC.
