Team Vitality's Summer began in the worst possible way — two losses on the KC Roadtrip in Paris, against the two best teams in the league. RFT.GG spoke with VIT jungler Linas "Lyncas" Nauncikas after the defeat to G2 to talk about a rough start in every phase of the game, FIESTA's baptism of fire in the LEC, and why the roster change was needed.
It's not the end of the world, because they're the two best teams in Europe, so obviously it's not a great start.
I think we're playing kind of sh*t in almost every aspect of the game.
Which is quite surprising — well, I'm not surprised. Our mid game is dead, it's not good. But our early game has been horrific too.
I think yesterday I played quite bad in game two. Game one, I couldn't play. Today, game one was good too, but then in the mid game we again just overforced some plays, and a lot of stuff. And game two, again, I just can't play. So it's quite frustrating — two out of the four games, from a general perspective, you just can't really play.
FIESTA's addition has been good for the environment overall. There are just different kinds of problems to fix now — more gameplay-related. But in terms of pure environment and how the split should go, I think it's an upgrade, a better thing.
I think it was needed — knowing everything that others don't know.
It's quite frustrating that we have to make such a change while other teams have their roster stable and can work together and constantly improve, and then we have to make a sudden change. But the change was needed, and I think it should be better long term.
I think today was quite good — he did well in both games. In game two, after he solo killed twice, he made some mistakes, so maybe he got caught up in the hype or something. Yesterday was a bit worse — maybe it's his first time in Europe and you have to play in front of like 7k people. But the rest of the team handled it quite well. I think it's very enjoyable to play in front of a big crowd, even when they boo you.
I think it shouldn't be bad for us, in the way that there's a lot more fighting, and
In Europe we have some of the better skill through our hands and through fighting.
But we're also not that good right now in terms of support-jungle-mid, I suppose. And I think teams like KC and G2 had those international tournaments where they got so much experience in this meta, which can help them.
We are sh*t right now, but I'll make sure the team doesn't give up, and hopefully we can bounce back.
