In its statement, Riot explains that the Caps' legacy redefined what the West believed was possible against the Korean and Chinese giants. The phrasing is marketing-speak, but it says something interesting: for nearly a decade, Caps was living proof that a European player could compete at the very top without copying the Asian model.
A record with no equal in Europe
Caps holds 17 LEC / EU LCS titles, more than double the tally of his closest pursuer in the continental hierarchy — his teammates and former teammates and sit at 11. Adding his stint in the , he totals 18 domestic championships, an outright record across all regions.
