Riot Games has confirmed to RFT.GG that players are not allowed to switch roles in order to share the same quest in official pro matches. The rule has been in place since the beginning of the 2026 Season.
"This policy was introduced globally at the start of the 2026 Season," Riot told RFT.GG. "It is not new to Spring, nor is it a reaction to any specific regional league. All our Tier 1 Leagues as well as Tournament Organizers were informed at the beginning of the season, as this approach aligns with the intended game design, where the experience mirrors regular Solo Queue."
Riot Games definitively clears up the ambiguity surrounding the role quests as no mention of it appears in the rulebooks. The publisher's position is clear: the policy applies across all Leagues, and Tournament Organizers were briefed before the 2026 season began.
The statement follows a match between Frites Esports Club and Once Upon A Team in the Road Of Legends (Benelux League). In that match, three FEC players — their midlaner, ADC, and support — played with the support quest simultaneously in both games of the BO3.
