Hey, We often hear “it worked in scrims but not on stage” or “we didn’t scrim enough.” At this point, it’s not an excuse, it’s a flawed practice method. Grinding game blocks hoping things click isn’t real training. In traditional sports, players focus on specific drills like passing, pressing, or finishing. League should be no different. Riot’s Practice Tool allows exactly that: repeating lane 1v1s, recreating dives, or practicing teamfights without playing full games. Teams should focus on targeted training first, then use scrims to validate. Right now, Europe copies Asian metas without building its own identity. Even if some coaches experiment with these methods, they’re barely used. If we want to catch up to Asia, training needs to evolve. Scrims alone aren’t enough.
IMO: Riot has butchered the league by sticking to a subpar format for years, teams and players need to play more, to get more data, experience, etc. Last summer GenG and T1 played more games than the entire LEC. I'm hoping the change to BO3 this year will allow for more frequent deep runs by European teams.
