SK Square and Comcast have held board meetings focused on T1's governance, and a shortlist of candidates to succeed Joe Marsh has reportedly been shared between the club's two ownership branches.
Korean outlet Sports Seoul reported on August 25 that a T1 board meeting was held recently, bringing together representatives of SK Square β majority shareholder with 53.13% β and Comcast, which holds 34.3% of the organization. On the agenda: ongoing matters and the organization's strategic direction, including the appointment of its next CEO.
"SK Square is taking the questions surrounding the exclusive agency and the CEO position very seriously," a source close to the matter told the Korean outlet, which describes "in-depth discussions" during the meeting.
A Shortlist Already Handed Over
The talks appear to have moved beyond generalities: SK Square is said to have passed Comcast a list of candidates for the next CEO role.
No official change has been recorded regarding the future of Joe Marsh β even though it was announced that it had been renewed,βT1's CEO since 2020, and there is nothing to suggest a successor has been selected. No resignation, suspension or dismissal has been confirmed. But the circulation of a shortlist between the two main shareholders suggests that discussions about the organization's future leadership structure are underway.
The CAA Singapore File in the Background
These discussions come amid a weeks-long investigation into the terms of the contract binding T1 to CAA Singapore, its exclusive agency for commercial sponsorships.
Drawing on multiple accounts, the Korean outlet claims that certain sponsorship deals secured directly by T1 employees were nonetheless handled by CAA β raising questions about the contractual structure, commission levels and how commercial performance was credited.
