The 2026 Demacia Cup Global Invitational kicks off on October 3, bringing together twelve teams from six regions. The Swiss stage opens with a round of BO1 (best-of-one) games, which leaves little room for error from day one. Before the first matches get underway, here is our Top 10 of the teams invited to the tournament.
No teams at DCGI can boast the kind of international pedigree KT bring with them, having reached the Worlds final just last year. This season, however, ended in frustration. After sweeping Dplus KIA only a few days earlier, they fell to the same opponent with a Worlds ticket on the line and had to settle for fifth place in the LCK.

That is KT in a nutshell. On their best days, they can easily beat anyone in the world, yet on a bad one, it feels like even a bottom team is capable of sweeping them.

Even so, their many wins against the LCK's elite this year make them the clear favorites. They also have Gwak "BDD" Bo-seong, comfortably the best player at the event. The one real danger lies in their reliance on preparation, when they walk into a series with the wrong ideas, any opponent can take advantage.
BFX are the only team at the event to have already competed at a Riot international tournament this year, having made it to First Stand. Since then, they lost momentum but the arrival of Kim "Taeyoon" Tae-yoon at ADC has breathed new life into the roster, bringing back an impactful and reliable botlane, the same kind that powered their LCK Cup run. The midlane remains a different story, as Oh "Vicla" Hyeon-taek continues to blow hot and cold. Some days he goes toe-to-toe with the best midlaners in the region, while on others he gets completely run over.

Even so, BFX look like the best-equipped team to challenge KT's expected dominance. No other side here has proven, at several points in the year, that they can trade blows with the LCK's top four. In these playoffs, for example, they took T1 to five games before Dplus KIA reverse-swept them.
While WE and JDG had ups and downs all year, LGD's season has been a steady climb. It started in Spring, when they knocked out Zhao "Elk" Jia-Hao's Weibo Gaming to reach the Ascend group. From there, they held their own in mid-table before stunning TES and NIP with two 3-2 playoff wins. Their run eventually came to an end brutally against IG (3-0), but these playoffs confirmed LGD as one of the most resilient and clutch teams in the league.

Lin "Tangyuan" Yu-Hong deserves special attention after proving to be their path to victory this split, while Liu "Crisp" Qing-Song has been instrumental in the team's growth since he arrived. On paper, LGD carry the most momentum of the three LPL representatives from Split 3 playoffs. Unlike WE and JDG, however, they did not play in the Regional Finals, so it is hard to tell whether that upward curve will carry into the Demacia Cup. Placing them third is a bet we are willing to make, and their opening games should tell us a lot about the form they will show throughout the event.
Few expected much from BRO this year, with most predictions placing them at the bottom of the standings. In the end, they still managed to show flashes of brilliance and steady progress throughout the season. After a 1-7 start, they won five matches in a row in Rounds 1-2, before putting together a solid second half of the year. Jo "Roamer" Woo-jin, a weak link early on, returned to form in the second half of the season and became far more threatening in lane. Park "Teddy" Jin-seong is still their main carry, capable of flipping teamfights on his own when given resources.
Behind him, Shin "Casting" Min-je and Kim "GIDEON" Min-seong are usually very solid and consistent on the top side, while Namgung "Namgung" Seong-hoon finished third in Rookie of the Year voting. How close BRO are to the other two LCK representatives was clear in the play-in. Twice they led 2-1, and twice they lost, first to KT and then to BFX. Their champion pools and lack of Fearless BO5 experience may still trip them up, but they should not be underestimated.
Vitality were the only LEC team that could genuinely trouble the region's top three this year. They dropped just one game in the Spring regular season and two in Summer. Despite a 3-0 loss, they gave G2 more trouble than anyone else did during their Summer playoffs run. They then let a 3-2 series against Movistar KOI slip away in a game five they had under control. Vitality's biggest opponent, in other words, is often themselves. Their mid game and their ability to snowball leads remain recurring issues. If they solve them, their topside, which reliably secures early advantages, could make them one of the most dangerous teams in China.

Their closeness to Europe's elite also makes them the best-armed Western team on paper, as the other three sit further from the top 3 of their regions. Kaan "Naak Nako" Okan, the Spring MVP, will be one to watch against a strong pool of international toplaners (Xiaoxu, Perfect, Casting, Gakgos, Kiaya...). On the experience front, coach Patrick "Pad" Suckow-Breum and Matyáš "Carzzy" Orság have both appeared on the international stage, including twice at Worlds. That was nearly three years ago, though, so it remains to be seen how much having played on bigger stages still counts. On paper, if there's one team that can really threaten Asia at the tournament: it should be them.
The last time Team WE made real noise, they came within a single series of MSI. Their Split 2 playoff run took them past Bilibili Gaming and Anyone's Legend, before Top Esports and then Bilibili Gaming, in a five-game lower final, finally shut the door. WE can still reach that level, but they can just as easily look lost for entire series. Their best version revolves around Wang "Monki" Meng-Qi on aggressive early-game junglers, with clever plans designed to bury the opposing jungler.

When that approach fails to crack the map open, though, they rarely find another rhythm. The botlane is the other side of the coin. When they get ahead early, they take games over on their own, but when they fall behind, they can lose them almost single-handedly. JDG did beat them in the Regional Finals, so why rank WE higher? First because WE did beat them as well in playoffs, and second because JDG arrive without the mid-jungle duo they spent the whole year building around.
JDG have reshuffled their mid-jungle on the eve of the tournament: HongQ and JunJia are out, with xiaofang stepping into the jungle and veteran Angel taking over the midlane. The move had been brewing for weeks. After a year in which they never rediscovered their early-season form, JDG had already signed xiaofang in August, while JunJia was still under contract.

The botlane, on the other hand, stays intact. Chen "GALA" Wei brings a decorated international résumé, and his partnership with Zhao "Vampire" Zhe-Can remains the team's main source of carry potential. The real questions lie elsewhere. Neither xiaofang nor Angel is a game-changer signing, and their only real stint together dates back to the 2024 LPL Spring Split in a very dysfunctional OMG. Two years later, with only days to prepare, JDG's level at this event is anyone's guess. We guessed it would end up being the lowest of the LPL/LCK teams.
Fourth place in the LEC playoffs is a respectable return for NAVI, even if the gap to the region's top three remains wide. Their game plan is linear and easy to read, with almost everything funneled through Enes "Rhilech" Uçan. To his credit, the LEC Rookie of the Year has produced some genuinely brilliant stretches, and NAVI's early game, built on a sharp jungle-support duo, is a real strength.

The carries are where things get complicated. Yoon "Poby" Sung-wonand Lee "SamD" Jae-hoon fall behind in lane too often and already struggle to keep their heads above water in the LEC. International experience is thin too, as Poby is the only player on the roster to have competed abroad, which could cost such a young side dearly. Then again, NAVI are not here to lift the trophy. This trip is about banking experience ahead of 2027.
Early in the Summer Split, FlyQuest looked like genuine contenders for North America's third Worlds slot. The playoffs told a different story. Up 2-1 against Shopify Rebellion in the lower bracket, they dropped the last two games and went home. What FlyQuest do have is a taste for innovation. Johnson "Gryffinn" Le can pull out exotic picks or carry champions that catch unprepared opponents off guard.

Experience, however, is split right down the middle. Fahad "Massu" Abdulmalek and Song "Quad" Su-hyeong played at both of the last two MSIs and Worlds, and could drag the roster upwards eventhough the midlaner seems to have a hard time finding the same footing he had for the past two years with this new roster. The other three, meanwhile, are in their very first year of tier-one competition. With that many unknowns along with the bad momentum from these LCS playoffs, it is hard to rank them any higher. Had they put together a more convincing Summer Split, they would likely have ranked above JDG and NAVI.
Their head-to-head in the LCS playoffs could have pushed Shopify Rebellion above FlyQuest. Over the whole year, however, FlyQuest spent far more time near the top of the league and simply seems to have much more consistency. Shopify missed the playoffs entirely in the first split and barely scraped in the next time around. They only truly peaked in these Summer playoffs, and even then they entered the playoffs as the sixth seed and were swept by Cloud9 in their opening series. From there, they clawed back from 0-2 against Sentinels and from 2-1 down against FlyQuest, before LYON ended the run.

Juan Arturo "Contractz" Garcia was one of the standout players of those playoffs. A Worlds quarterfinalist with NRG three years ago, he should bring both experience and reliability to the side, especially given his recent form. The storyline to follow, though, is Yoo "Zinie" Baek-jin. Shopify open their tournament against KT Rolster, the organization that developed him into the very hyped prospect he became in its academy. And BDD, the midlaner who kept him out of the main roster, will be waiting across the lane.
Editorial note: RED Canids and GAM Esports do not appear in this ranking. We have not seen enough of either team this year to assess their level fairly, so we chose not to rank them rather than guess. Their matches at the Demacia Cup will be a good chance to see where LCP and CBLOL stand against international opposition.
surely putting both lcs teams below lec is ragebait
