KC kyeahoo: "It's going to be so much fun. I just want to play ASAP"
A few days out from MSI, Karmine Corp mid laner Kyeahoo discussed with RFT.GG. He talks through his move West from the LCK, the finals against G2, his read on facing Caps and the international stage — and the prospect of taking on Faker with Karmine Corp.
How are you feeling?
Yeah i'm good, I'm happy, excited.
People often say international competitions are where players learn the most—do you feel you've progressed faster since your T1 bootcamp than during the LEC?
I've played much longer in the LEC, and not very long at the bootcamp, so I wouldn't say I can feel a huge difference as of now. But facing different teams and stronger players is fun and I feel like it's making me improve. But right now I can't definitely tell you that I feel like I've been able to grow way more than during my LEC experience.
After the two upcoming competitions (MSI/EWC), do you think you'll have progressed a lot?

The improvement will be felt once the international competitions are over and I go back to playing in the LEC. But it's still too early to feel it, so I can't really talk about it for now.
Juggling like you did back then between the LCK and LCK CL at DRX—was that a complicated situation to manage for you?
There were good and bad sides. The good side is that I was still playing in the LCK against good teams and good players, which is positive. The bad side is that by constantly changing, the synchronization and team cohesion are difficult to adjust.
Did you want to or plan to join a tier 1 project in the West, or was it when KC contacted you that you considered this possibility?
At first, I wasn't thinking about it at all. It was only when KC came looking for me from Europe that I started thinking about it. Originally, I wasn't thinking about it at all.
Had you already heard of KC when they contacted you?
KC had come to the First Stand, so I knew the players a little. But after that, they weren't able to participate in international competitions, so I didn't get to know about them better, I knew about Canna on toplane, of course. When the offer came, everyone was already confirmed except me. So... I knew the members, but I didn't know the details of the team.

Did you expect the team to be this competitive right from the start? Because you made two consecutive finals, right?
When I first saw all the names in the roster, I could recognize all their names and I told myself "they actually have a stacked line-up."
I was expectingthat we could make all the international competitions and win a few titles. Reaching at least the finals seemed pretty obvious to me.
As for the title, I figured that by playing a little better we'd win, and by playing a little worse we wouldn't win. That's the level at which I saw things.
And were you expecting such a warm welcome from the fans? The wolf has become part of the club's culture.
I didn't expect it at all. Receiving this kind of attention is a really good thing in itself, so I'm happy.
Happy and grateful.
When you look back at the two finals lost against G2, how do you explain the result?
We lost because we played worse than G2 that day. Honestly, between G2 and us, it wouldn't be surprising for either one to win. That day we played a little worse, and G2 played a little better.
Having played against the top LCK players, do you feel the same thing playing against a player like Caps?
For the laning phase itself, I think Korean players are a bit better. But on many other aspects, I think Caps is better. So when you combine all that, I think he is a World class player, yes.

At the start of the year you were very supported by Busio and Yike for your laning phase, today it's almost the opposite—why?
The meta at the start of the season and the current meta are a bit different. So it's not that the team's direction has changed because of the meta shifts but rather that our drafts are different and they also require to be played differently.
You've faced Faker plenty in the LCK, but facing him internationally is always different—is it exciting, and how confident are you about taking him on with KC?
Of course I'm confident, because I earned a spot coming from the LEC. And honestly, more than anything, I just think it's going to be so much fun that I just want to play the match as soon as possible.
