South Korean streaming platform SOOP — formerly known as AfreecaTV and often described as the country's main local competitor to Twitch — has officially extended its partnership with BNK FearX until 2028.
The signing ceremony took place at the DN Colosseum in Jamsil, Seoul, the city's new dedicated e-sports arena.
Exclusive content on League of Legends
At the heart of the deal lies a broadcasting exclusivity. BFX players competing in League of Legends and FC Online will now stream solely on SOOP. It's a way for the platform to strengthen its e-sports catalogue against the competition from Twitch and YouTube, while giving players a direct channel to their community.
SOOP also intends to ramp up collaborative content pairing pro players with streamers, aiming to bring together two audiences that still overlap far too little: competitive e-sports fans and regular viewers of entertainment streaming.
Live events ?
The two partners plan to jointly organise offline events and fan meet-ups, in line with South Korea's highly developed e-sports event culture.
"Through this partnership, we will connect pro players' personal broadcasts, collaborative content and offline events into a single, cohesive whole, creating an environment where fans can get closer to the players and interact with them," said a SOOP representative.
