The Global Contract Database, commonly known as the GCD, is Riot Games' official registry of every player and coach currently signed to a team in the worldwide League of Legends competitive circuit. It is the single source of truth for who plays for whom — and until when.

What the GCD Contains

The database lists, for each registered individual:

  • The player or staff member's in-game name and legal name
  • Their current team and role
  • Their contract end date
  • Their residency status (a critical detail for import rules in regions like the LEC or LCS)
  • A team contact point for transfer inquiries

The GCD is maintained directly by Riot Games and updated in real time whenever a team submits a contract change, signing, release or extension.

Which Regions Are Covered

The GCD covers every league operating under a Riot-accredited competitive circuit, including the LCK, LPL, LEC, LCS, LCP and CBLOL, as well as Tier 2 ecosystems such as the LFL, Prime League, Superliga, and TCL. Academy rosters are also registered.

Why It Matters

The GCD is the backbone of the LoL Esports transfer market. Journalists, analysts, fantasy players and fans rely on it during free agency — typically running from mid-November to mid-December — to track which players are entering the market, which contracts have been extended, and which moves have been officially registered versus merely rumored on social media. A signing is only truly confirmed once it appears in the GCD.
