The LCK announced on Friday that Park "Ruler" Jae-hyuk will face no disciplinary action over his tax case. The decision closes the investigation opened on April 1 and brings to an end a controversy that had rattled the Korean scene for over a month.
Inside the LCK's Decision
The LCK appointed an investigation committee that included three independent experts. After document review, deliberations and an in-person hearing with the player, the committee voted unanimously against any sanction.
Two articles of the LCK rulebook were on the table. Article 9.2.8 covers criminal conduct, and the league concluded it did not apply: no charges had been filed under Korea's Punishment of Tax Offenses Act, and the matter had been handled as an administrative reassessment rather than a criminal case. Article 9.2.9, which covers immoral conduct or behavior damaging the league's reputation, was also ruled out. The committee pointed to the fact that Ruler had already paid the reassessed amounts and that the tax procedures had been carried out under guidance from a professional representative.
The investigation also confirmed that the events fell outside the league's own statute of limitations, which closed the door on any retroactive penalty even if the rulebook had been a closer fit.
Reactions
The closure drew quick responses on social media. Gen.G issued an official statement apologizing to fans for the month-long uncertainty and framing the organization's earlier silence as a deliberate choice to respect the LCK's investigation. .
